Derrick's last deployment- Djibouti, Africa

Here are a random assortment of photos from Derrick's recent deployment. I thought you'd like to see a little bit of what he does! You will see that most of the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) guys are sporting a mustache. They do this on deployments but I am happy to report that bad boy was shaved off before he came home. ;)

That looks insane. Am I the only one wondering if they are standing at the back of the plane or about to jump out and if so, where are the parachutes? Wow, so glad that mustache is off. :)

Wow, those are some amazing pictures! I agree...whats up with the plane? Are they about to jump?

I'm not sure which is which.. but they were pushing a big raft/boat out of the helicopter in the first one. They then jump out holding on to a rope. I think it's called fast roping. They also do another with a harness called 'casting'? Anyway he knows what he's doing :)

Wow - it is so surreal to look at the pictures of you (and us) traveling in Germany and then the pics of you in Venice, and then see Derrick hard at work in Africa, knowing that he did all of that in the same summer.

I well with pride when I look at those pics - though some of them are hilarious - you are fortunate to be married to such a clown - but also to a person who takes his work so seriously!

Thanks for sharing these!!!!!

Love ya!
